Our History

St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church (JSOC) in Hampshire was established in December 2015, in accordance with the Holy Bull sent by His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aprem II, patriarch.

The inaugural Holy Qurbana was celebrated by H.G. Abraham Mor Severios, and since been led by Rev. Fr. Eldhose Kaungampillil, Rev. Fr. Abin Onnukallinkal, and Rev. Fr. Aneesh Kavalayil.

The parish conducts two Holy Qurbanas per month, specifically on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The Church operates with an approved By-Law and is a registered charity in the United Kingdom. The Managing Committee convenes twice a month to deliberate on the Church’s day-to-day affairs, including setting objectives and goals for the future. Furthermore, St. Mary’s JSOC features a Sunday School, catering to Reception to Year 10 students, a Youth Association, a Vanitha Samajam, and is registered with the Charity Commission.

Every Christmas season, our Carol group visits the homes of all Church members, while New Year celebrations feature a full day of cultural programs.

Over the past eight years, St. Mary’s JSOC has had the honor of hosting Holy Mass led by
H.G Zacharias Mor Philaxinos Metropolitan,
H.G Mor Antheemos Mathews Metropolitan
H.G Thomas Mor Themotheos Metropolitan
H.G Mor Silvanos Ayoub Metropolitan

The Church’s growth can be attributed to the unflagging commitment of its committee and members.
Currently, St. Mary’s JSOC has forty-five families and continues to expand, a testament to the Grace of God.
